2027 Campaign
Why HSD?
Born 22 years ago in Montérégie, Hooked on School Days (HSD) has evolved into a national movement over time. The Montreal edition, coordinated by Réseau réussite Montréal (RRM), will celebrate its 16th edition in 2026.
In fact, 18 regional coordination bodies across Quebec – including RRM – now unite their communities during the third week of February around school perseverance and educational success.
An annual awareness and mobilization event, HSD offers a pan-Quebec platform that encourages and celebrates the motivations and aspirations of young people – from the youngest to the oldest – while recognizing the essential contributions of those who support them.
HSD is an opportunity to:
- Raise awareness across society about the importance of school perseverance.
- Highlight the commitment of those who work, directly or indirectly, toward the educational success of young people.
- Recognize the actions taken by everyone to promote school perseverance.
- Raise awareness of issues related to educational success – including, for RRM, the specific challenges in Montreal.
- But most of all... it's a moment to pause and celebrate the journeys of our young people, congratulate them for their efforts, and encourage them!
Perseverance Means Paving Your Own Way
We sometimes tend to think of an educational journey as a straight, clearly defined path. But that would mean overlooking a fundamental truth: everyone has their own definition of success and their own path to achieving it.
Persevering in your studies means giving yourself the opportunity to discover that path. It means paving your own way and, in doing so, defining who you are. Failing at a task, trying a different approach, making mistakes, changing your mind: all these twists and turns we choose to take can be just as valuable and rewarding as our successes.
There are so many ways to show encouragement.
Overcoming an obstacle can often be as simple as offering a helping hand.A few words of encouragement. A gentle pat on the back.
Every act of support builds confidence and strengthens the desire to keep moving forward.
Perseverance means paving your own way. Together, let's celebrate every journey!
Hooked on School Days is pleased to count on the engagement of Laurent Duvernay-Tardif for a 8th year in a row to help mobilize Quebec around the success of our young people.

A talented professional football player with a Doctor of Medicine degree from McGill University, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is passionate about the goals he has set for himself and has constantly persevered to achieve them. With his wide-ranging experiences, Laurent knows first hand that small gestures, when they are added up, can be a powerful force for helping young people persevere in their education and throughout life.

In 2016, to take tangible action to help youth stay in school, he created the Laurent Duvernay-Tardif Foundation, whose goal is to highlight the importance of striking a balance between sports, arts, and studies. Encouraging physical activity and creativity are indeed fundamental to youth development and are major factors in their educational success.
We are so pleased that through his dedication to young people, Laurent will help us promote the campaign and mobilize Quebecers around the success of our youth.
